How We Started
What began as a small community-driven fundraising project during the severe Somalia drought in 2002, initiated by our UK-based Founder, marked the first steps of Al Ihsan Humanitarian Association. The project aimed to provide relief, support, and a path toward sustainable development for a small group of orphans among the hundreds who were displaced.
Two teachers were employed to educate this vulnerable group of children. For the first 18 months, lessons were held outdoors on open ground, beneath the shade of trees. Through continued donations and community dialogue, proper rooms were eventually secured, laying the foundation for classrooms that grew into fully established schools.
In recognition of its consistent efforts, the organization was formally registered as a certified charity with the UK Charities Commission in 2008.
How We Progress
From humble beginnings under trees, Al Ihsan Humanitarian Association has continued to grow steadily—expanding its schools, programs, and support networks to reach more vulnerable children and families worldwide. Every step forward is guided by the same commitment that shaped our early work: empowering orphans and disadvantaged communities through education, welfare, and compassion.
Our Plans for the Future
Al Ihsan Humanitarian Association aspires to become a leading global charity that not only cares for and supports vulnerable communities but also campaigns alongside them to break free from the cycle of poverty. Our focus remains on providing access to free education and welfare as a path to sustainable change.
In line with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), we will also be introducing new initiatives that highlight how giving in charity (sadaqah) enriches our lives and serves as a safeguard against hardships and calamities.
